Southern California Locals: A Railroad Enthusiast's Field Guide to Local Trains in Southern California Review
Over 500 trains listed. This book is intended for the Southern California railroad enthusiast and consists of a compilation of local trains serving the area ostensibly from as far north as Santa Barbara to as far south as San Ysidro and from as far west as El Segundo to as far east as El Centro. Leaves San Diego at 1900, right after AMT 582 arrives. Makes a pick up at Stuart Mesa, adding loads of paper from Miramar. Goes through Encinitas about 2230. Makes another pick up at Porphyry grabbing the Corona Local’s empties. The train has lumber, boxes, frozen food in reefers, propane, and autoracks.) LOF67 Guadalupe Turn Mon, Thu (On duty 1401, but can go on duty up to two-hours early if LOF41 has their train ready. Air tests at Gemco, then calls the DS to enter the Metrolink Ventura Sub. Sets off cars for VCRY and Oxnard Local at Oxnard. Works Haywood Lumber in Goleta if needed. Also spots/pulls MofW equipment at Gaviota and Sacate material spurs. Heads up to Guadalupe with cars for Santa Maria Valley and Guadalupe Local. Arrives in Guadalupe between 0100 and 0200. Crew overnights at a Santa Maria motel. Power comes from previous LOQ35) Read more...
